Overview

The "Culture of Giving," a movement of The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County is a joint effort of The Community Foundation, The Daily Camera, Sterling-Rice Group, Philanthropiece, and The Heyman-McConnell Family, among others.

We believe that thoughtful giving is a skill, one that requires research and learning. We hope to facilitate that process by bringing people, information, and resources together.

Local Heroes

Arlene Strand

Seventeen years ago my husband and I returned to Nederland after living in Australia for four years. I was homesick for that lovely country, and the many friends we had made living there. By becoming involved in volunteer work I could overcome that feeling of being isolated in a small town where I had not yet had a chance to make friends.

Mary and Lewis Stuckey

The real heroes are the people who take three or four hours a week and work with various organizations to make the country a better place to live. The rewards you get for the time you spend far outweigh the personal cost.

Kay Harmsen

Professionals in a variety of fields can come together to give back to the community, using what we know, what is dear to our hearts, and what we're good at. Be innovative, you can do something. Create a cause.

Success Stories

Lutheran Family Services

Jeff, Connie, and Joshua
Lutheran Family Services has truly been a Godsend to our family. When we called them, they invited us to an orientation class and sent out information with a list of suggested books to read. Later, when our baby was placed with us, our counselor was as excited as we were!

Parenting Place

Debbie Crabb
I like coming to Parenting Place to make friends with people who have things in common. It can be scary as a new parent. At Parenting Place parents socialize as a family together.

Dental Aid

Dale Montoya
As a young boy I inherited a disease from my father. At a real early age my teeth started to come in and they weren't getting white. So later on the dentist capped my teeth with silver. When I went to school kids called me rude names. I used to go home in tears almost everyday.
